The reality
The problem we solve
Most forwarder quoting today is manual triage. An RFQ arrives, a sales rep messages operations, operations digs through tariffs, finance applies a margin, and three days later the customer gets a quote. Miles compresses that into seconds, without losing the margin discipline that keeps the business profitable.

Outcomes
What you get
Reply same-hour, every time
Whether the inquiry comes from the customer portal, an email, or the sales floor, Miles produces a complete quote with all-in pricing in seconds.
Multi-mode in one engine
Ocean FCL, LCL, air, road and rail — Miles uses the same tariff library and the same margin rules across every mode you offer.
Margins you control
Define floor margins by lane, customer, and trade. Miles enforces them automatically — sales can never quote below the rule without manager approval.
Works with your TMS, not against it
Quotes can be exported, emailed, or pushed to your existing TMS / booking flow. Miles is the engine, not a replacement system.
Mechanics
How it works
- 1
1. Inquiry comes in
Email, portal request, or a sales rep typing details into the search bar. Miles understands lane, mode, equipment, and required dates.
- 2
2. Match against tariffs
Miles draws on the structured tariff library Tari built. It picks the eligible carriers/agreements, applies validity windows, and pulls surcharges live.
- 3
3. Apply your margin rules
Customer-specific markups, lane-specific floors, and minimum margin %. Miles applies the rule and shows the rep how the price was built.
- 4
4. Send the quote
PDF, email reply, or portal response — sent under your business name. Freightools.ai powers the quoting engine behind the scenes. The customer gets an itemized, defensible price within minutes of asking.
FAQ
Frequently asked
- Can Miles quote without Tari?
- Yes — Miles can use any structured tariff source. Tari just makes loading dramatically faster. If you already have a clean tariff database, Miles can plug into it directly.
- What about spot-market rates?
- Miles supports both contract and spot inputs. Spot rates can be ingested via API (carrier or aggregator) or manual entry, and they are blended with contract rates per your routing rules.
- Will my sales team be replaced by AI?
- No. Miles removes the lookup work that consumes a sales rep’s day so they can spend that time on customers. Margin rules and final approvals stay with your team.
- How is pricing audited?
- Every Miles quote stores the inputs (lane, mode, dates, customer, applied rule) and the carrier records used. You can re-open any quote and see exactly how the number was assembled.
